I was at a horse stable today and took the opportunity to take the two photos above while watching a horseback lesson.
It reminded me of camp and how much I love being outside. I miss those summers – living on a mountain for three months, teaching climbing wall, going down the zipline, attending numerous campfires, singing silly songs, and making lasting memories.
The smell of the horse stable nearly took me out (it was a really humid day, mind you.) I thought to myself, “How did I deal with this ranky stank smell when I visited the camp’s horseback instructors every day?” You just get used to it, I guess?
All of these memories brought me to a realization – I haven’t been camping in years.
This must change. With autumn comes perfect camping conditions.
And lately, I’ve had the strong desire to get a bunch of friends together and do something fun. And camping sounds like a plan.
So, perhaps I’ll be planning a hiking/camping trip soon for me, the hubs, and whichever friends want to tag along.
The thought of that makes me happy.
